Dr. Brian Yau

Welcome to my family practice; it is a privilege for me to work with you to preserve and prolong good health! I was born in Toronto and went to Western University for undergraduate studies in Physiology. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into medical school at UBC and completed my MD degree in 2014. I then completed two years of family medicine residency in 2016 with the Vancouver-Fraser Family Medicine Residency Program through UBC. I am currently also training as a cardiovascular surgical assistant at Vancouver General Hospital and have an interest in office procedural work (ie: biopsies, etc.).

Unfortunately, I do not provide full maternity care but am happy to initiate maternity care and refer you to a maternity provider as soon as appropriate. I am also a clinical instructor and will be involved with teaching medical students and residents with the UBC Department of Family Practice. (Note: There is no obligation for you to assent to seeing a learner but it would be most appreciated if you can provide them those invaluable opportunities to grow as clinicians.)

Outside of medicine, I have a love for food, coffee and craft beer. I also enjoy cooking as much as I enjoy eating. I try to stay active with skiing, tennis and volleyball and the very occasional run (trust me, I know how hard it is!). I have one beautiful daughter born 2016 and a lovely wife who’s seen me through tough times! Lastly, I am a Christian and attend Westside Church regularly.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
